3 Ways to Work With Me
You bring the science. I bring nearly 20 years of managing NIH, AHRQ, and PCORI-funded research, so your project runs on time, on budget, and without the operational stress. Pick the kind of support that fits where you are right now.
01
Short-Term Help
HOURLY | USUALLY LESS THAN 6 MONTHS | HOURLY RATE
Best for: a defined need or a new project that needs a strong start, without an ongoing commitment.
What it can look like
You just landed an internal grant to launch your research career. You hire me for a set number of hours over several months to set your project up for success:
Organizing file structures and project systems
Mapping out your first 90 days
Hiring and training a research coordinator
Advising on unique grant management issues
02
Ongoing Support
MONTHLY | 6-12+ MONTHS | MONTHLY ENGAGEMENT
Best for: active grants that need steady, hands-on attention to get or stay on track.
What it can look like
You are in Year 3 of an NIH grant, behind schedule and over budget. I come in to help you find a way back:
Reviewing your grants and current plan
Talking with your existing staff
Exploring strategies to recover timeline and budget
Making iterative changes together until you are back on track
03
Embedded Partner
WRITTEN INTO YOUR GRANT | MULTI-YEAR | BUDGETED INTO YOUR AWARD
Best for: long-term, complex projects such as multi-site federal or industry awards.
How it works
I support your grant submission (hourly or ongoing)
Together we decide the ideal time and effort for your project
You write me into the proposal and budget
When the award arrives, I am already on board and we hit the ground running
Most researchers have more options than they realize. Here are the funding sources clients use most often, and I can help you with the paperwork for any of them.
How clients pay for my services
Startup or departmental funds
The most common source for short-term and ongoing support.
Your existing federal grant
Depending on your grant's rules. If you budgeted for a project manager, this can be that line item. You can also request a budget change in your progress report or a change request.
A new grant proposal
Write project management into your next submission so the support is funded from day one of the award.
Professional development funds
Less common, but a good fit for special rates I occasionally offer, often paired with a webinar. Credit cards accepted.
Need a justification? I will help you write the budget justification for a grant proposal or the rationale for a budget change request.
